Paola is full Professor of Financial Markets Regulation at the Department of Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2024, where she also teaches Financial Markets Law and where she has previously been Associate Professor (2017-2024) and Researcher (2007-2017).
Paola is also lecturer in Market Laws and Regulation in the Master’s program in Applied Economics at the Department of Economics and Finance of Luiss Guido Carli since the academic year 2012/2013.
She has also taught Introduction to Italian Financial Markets Law and Italian Law on Collective Investment Schemes at the Université du Luxembourg (2020/2024) and Italian Law on Collective Investment Schemes (2020/2022); Financial Market Law at the School of Legal Professions of the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2019/2022); Public Economic Law at the Carabinieri Officers School of Rome (2021/2022); Commercial Law II and Financial Market Law at the Academy of the Guardia di Finanza in Castel Porziano (2018/2021); Business and Market Law at the SARI degree program of the Department of Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2019/2021); Legal English at the Departments of Public Law and Private Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2016/2018); Business Law at the Department of Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata (2018/2019); Economic and Financial Market Law for the Master’s program in Economics, Management, and Business Administration at Lumsa University in Rome (2008/2015); Business Law at the Faculty of Economics of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (2008/2009); and has held a supplementary teaching contract in Commercial Law at Luiss Guido Carli (1994/2020).
She was a visiting fellow at the Department of Law of the London School of Economics from September 2016 to June 2017.
She is a Supreme Court lawyer, chartered accountant and auditor, registered in the respective professional rolls.
On March 14, 2024, she was appointed by the Minister of Economy and Finance to participate in the Coordination Committee for the Organic Reform of Capital Market Regulations.
She has been an independent director of Monte dei Paschi di Siena and a member of the Risk and Sustainability Committee of the board since April 2023; since October 2024, she has also been a member of the IT and Digitalization Committee.
Additionally, she is a Board member of the Italian Banking Association (ABI).
She has been the Chair of the Supervisory Committee of Agile Srl under Extraordinary Administration since November 2023.
Paola is a member of the Faculty Board of the PhD program in Law and Protection: Contemporary Experience, Comparison, and Roman Law System at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
She is also a member of the Faculty Board of the Second-Level Master’s Program in “Roman Law and Contemporary Legal Systems” and the “Master in Cryptocurrencies” at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Since 2021, she has been the Italian member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society for Banking and Financial Law.
She has been a member of the Association of Law and Economics Professors (ADDE) since 2015.
She is part of the editorial board of the journal Giurisprudenza Commerciale; the editorial team of Banca, Borsa e Titoli di Credito; the editorial board of the Rivista di Diritto bancario; and the scientific evaluation committee of the Rivista trimestrale di diritto dell’economia and the journal Responsabilità d’Impresa. She is the author of two monographs, L’informazione da prospetto. Struttura e funzione nel mercato regolato, Giuffré, 2020 and Il voto in assemblea. Dall’organizzazione al mercato, Collana di Diritto dell’economia, directed by E. Picozza e R. Lener, Giappichelli, 2012, co-author of the book R. LENER - P. LUCANTONI, Il mercato finanziario, Giappichelli, 2024 and author of more than 90 articles and chapters of books in Italian and in English, dealing with the most significant aspects of the regulation of financial markets, banking regulation and business law.
In her professional practice, her work mainly focuses on drafting opinions on banking and financial market regulations.
She is fluent in English, French, and German.
